Privacy Policy
IdealistSpace, Inc. — Last updated: September 1, 2026
IdealistSpace, Inc. ("IdealistSpace," "we," "us") is a California corporation that builds software. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it, across everything we offer: our websites, our applications, and our hosted online services (together, the "Services").
Where an individual product publishes its own privacy policy, that policy governs that product and this one fills in the gaps.
Our approach
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run advertising networks or third-party trackers in our applications. We collect the minimum we need to run the product you're using, and we delete it when we no longer need it.
What we collect
Applications that run on your device. Many of our applications keep your content on your device, or in your own cloud storage account where you have enabled it. In those products we do not receive your content, and we operate no servers holding it.
Hosted services. Where we host data on your behalf, we collect:
- Account information — name, email address, password (stored only as a salted hash), and the organization you belong to.
- Content you create or upload — the files, recordings, media, records, and other material you put into the service.
- Usage and diagnostic data — pages loaded, features used, error and performance logs, IP address, browser and device type. We use this to keep the service working and to understand which features matter.
- Billing information — handled by our payment processor. We receive the plan, status, and last four digits of the card; we never receive or store full card numbers.
Websites. Our marketing and information sites collect standard server logs and privacy-respecting aggregate analytics. We do not use these to build advertising profiles.
Support. If you email us, we keep the message and your address so we can reply and follow up.
Why we use it
We use the information above only to provide, secure, and improve our products; to authenticate you; to process payments; to communicate about your account and important service changes; to respond to support requests; and to meet our legal obligations. That's it.
Students and children
Some of our services are used in classrooms.
When a school, district, or teacher uses our services with students, the school directs the collection and use of student data. In that relationship we act as a school official under FERPA and as a service provider to the school — we process student data only on the school's instructions and only to deliver the service. The school is responsible for obtaining any parental consent required under COPPA and applicable state student-privacy laws.
For student data we commit to the following:
- We do not sell student data, ever.
- We do not use student data for targeted advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not use student data to train third-party AI models.
- We collect only what the service requires — we don't ask students for information we don't need.
- We delete student data on the school's request, and on our normal retention schedule.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 outside of a school relationship. If you believe a child has provided us information outside that context, email hi@idealistspace.com and we will delete it.
Schools and districts that need a signed data privacy agreement can reach us at hi@idealistspace.com.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of vendors to operate: cloud hosting and content delivery, email delivery, error monitoring, and payment processing. They may process personal information on our behalf, under contract, only to provide their service to us. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We will provide a current list of subprocessors for our hosted services on request.
Retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. After you close an account, we delete or anonymize personal data within 90 days, except where we must keep records longer for tax, accounting, or legal reasons.
Some products delete sooner by design, and free plans may carry shorter storage or link-expiration limits. Product-specific retention is described in the product itself.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and we'll do it. Email hi@idealistspace.com from the address on your account.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Where we act as a processor for your school or organization, please direct your request to them and we will support them in answering it.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest for hosted data, scoped access controls, and managed infrastructure from established cloud providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data as if it were our own, and we will notify affected users and organizations without undue delay if a breach affects their data.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our services are hosted in the United States. If you use our services from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top and, for hosted services, notify account holders by email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
